US speedskater Simon Cho is embroiled in a sabotaging scandal after confessing on Friday that he tampered Canadian rival Olivier Jean’s skates at the the 2011 World Team Championship that took place in Warsaw, Poland.

Mr. Cho admits that this was a ‘huge mistake’ but he blames his U.S. skating team’s coach Jae Su Chun for ordering him to do it. Cho said during a press conference accompanied by his lawyer:

“When he spoke in Korean, I knew he was serious. The repetitiveness and aggressiveness of how he came at me was very intimidating. … I knew he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.”

U.S. Speedskating slammed the behavior and is conducting an investigation on the matter.

It remains to be seen if Simon Cho will be part of the US team that will compete at the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
